Sizzling! The 2020 Summer Interior Trends You Have to Know

There is no denying that summer is a very special season. Along with higher temperatures and balmy winds, a certain feeling is ushered in as well. It is a sense of fun, vibrancy, and newness. Naturally, you may be itching to change up your décor just before this season sets in.
If this is something you would like to do, you are in for a treat! This is because there are so many stunning trends for you to choose from. In fact, the sheer selection will have you wanting to completely makeover your home for the warm weather.
So, let’s take a look at all the changes that you may want to make…
Warm and Rosy – The Theme for Your Paint
The last couple of years have been all about minimalism. This meant that most home interiors were stark shades of white or grey. Fortunately, this is no longer the case! Instead, the top color trends of the year are pastels, earth tones, and punchy hues.
As you can imagine, these shades are perfect for a bright and bubbly summer. So, if you want something a little more cheery, consider painting your walls a dusty pink. Or, you can opt for something a bit warmer like a cavern clay hue.
Of course, it is possible that you may not want to paint your entire house for the season. What should you do then? Well, one quick and easy trick would be to paint your ceiling. It is cost-effective and requires minimal effort, but will still have an impact.
Another option would be to paint certain features such as an accent wall, doorways, or kitchen cabinets. Again, these won’t cost you as much, but will definitely lighten up the room.
Use Natural Light as a Guide
One thing you need to have in summer is an abundance of natural light spilling in through windows and doors. Thus, use this light as a guide to decide where you are going to place different pieces of furniture.
This is especially important when you’re creating a social space. Adjust the furniture so that the light brightens up a focal point of the room. At the same time, make sure that none of your chairs or couches are in the direct pathway of the beams.
Get Retro – Or Vintage
Yes, when it comes to furnishings and fixtures, home designers are taking a step back into the past. With this trend, you have two options. One, you can opt for a funkier retro vibe. In this case, look for brightly colored pieces that have a real attitude. Also, go for pieces that have curves rather than edges.
If you are going vintage, then consider doing some antique shopping. At the very least, head to thrift stores or flea markets to look for pieces that have some character. Keep in mind that with this trend, matching isn’t important. Rather, look for pieces that complement each other.
This particular trend is a good thing to keep in mind when decorating around certain appliances that stand out. Now, when summer is upon you, it is inevitable that you will set up an air conditioner unit in your living room so that you, your family, and your guests can remain cool.
However, these appliances can stand out. Thus, you may want to consider building a wood or faux bronze “housing” for this device. As long as you don’t block any important vents or outlets, you will find that it will conceal the appliance beautifully.
Play Around with Texture
Another trend you might want to try out in the summertime is to play around with texture. Now, there are two ways to do this. The first is with tactile strategies. Here, you can use different materials to create a noticeable texture with your furniture. Of course, since the temperatures will be higher, it is important to incorporate summer-friendly fabrics here.
Your other option is to do this with patterns. You can opt for different, but complementary patterns with your walls, furniture fabric, and even flooring. Don’t be afraid to get eclectic with it – you will be right on the trend. Not to mention, your home will feel a lot cozier and more personalized as well.
Add a Touch of Floral
It isn’t just springtime that’s associated with flowers – summer is as well! And, considering that the floral trend is in, make sure to bring the outdoors into your home. Once again, there are several ways to do this. If you don’t mind doing something bold, you can actually opt for floral wallpaper. There are so many designs and patterns to choose from. To prevent it from being too overwhelming, you can simply opt for a statement wall instead.
Or, choose the more subtle route. This is with flowers that are having a moment right now. If you have decided to go with a more retro theme, why not put up bunches of flowers with a similar theme? Make sure to be bold and make a big color statement.
If you have opted for an earthier or warmer paint color, there is a way to accommodate this style as well. Look for yellow or orange toned shades. Depending on your surrounding décor, you can decide to select either brighter or more subdued colors.
Now, flowers don’t have to be a lot of work for you. This is because, these days, it is quite acceptable to use faux silk ones. So, if you want to keep things low maintenance, the floral trend is still an option for you.
These are just some ways you can brighten the interior of your home for the summer. Or, if you want to simply usher in the feeling of summer, you can get a jump-start on your interior decorating. There’s no need to wait for the season! Either way, you can be certain that you will have loads of fun fixing up your home for the incoming warm weather.
