3 Bathroom Upgrades That Make All The Difference

If you are trying to sell your home, then you know that an upgraded and modern bathroom is one of the best ways to add resale value to your property. And even if you are not trying to sell your property and just want to freshen it up a little bit, the best way to do that is by adding a few simple, cheap, yet effective bathroom upgrades. You would be surprised to know the extent to which inexpensive improvements can add to the value of your home and change the overall appearance of a room.

It’s important to mention that there are dozens of upgrades you could consider for your bathroom. They range from the ones that cost tens of dollars to those that require a more serious investment. We consider the following three ideas to be relatively simple and affordable, but most certainly impactful. Feel free to use one, two or all three the next time you are upgrading your bathroom. They have been tested out many times before and have always brought great results!

  1. A recessed medicine cabinet – the perfect way to add storage space

Who says that all bathroom upgrades serve the purpose of beautifying the space? By adding a recessed medicine cabinet above your vanity, you would modernize your bathroom while also adding some much-needed storage space. A regular medicine cabinet is a great addition to your bathroom – but a medicine cabinet that’s installed a couple of inches inside the wall is the perfect way to create a sleek look.

When you look at the big picture, this little bit of extra wall framing can’t be classified as expensive when taking into account the other bathroom remodeling jobs. And how do you know whether you have a big job on your hands? Usually, a storage unit during big renovations turns out to be a mandatory part of the renovation process. If you have to disrupt your life and living space so much that you end up needing a unit, then you are definitely going to make a dent in your budget.

A recessed medicine cabinet won’t require such a big sacrifice, anyway. With this bathroom upgrade, you will give yourself extra space to use the sink, get an additional container for bathroom supplies, and effectively freshen up the place. And you won’t even break the bank in the process.

  1. Lighting makes all the difference

When talking about different ways to transform your home while working with a tight budget, it doesn’t get any better than lighting. Unfortunately, bathrooms usually don’t have sufficient access to natural light. But that should just serve as an additional motivation for you to get creative with artificial lighting. Luckily, there are about a dozen different ways to lighten up your space and give it the desired vibe.

If you have no idea where to start, we suggest you begin by adding a dimmer for the main lights. Imagine taking a nice, long, bubble bath after a hard day. Doing it in full artificial light won’t have the same charm as doing it in a dimly lit room. A dimmer will easily set the right mood every single time you hop in for a bath. Add a few scented candles, and you will quickly get a room you will want to spend most of your time in.

Secondly, you could work on improving both the mood and the functionality by adding recessed fixtures around your mirror. You will have a better visual when doing your hair and makeup, not to mention that you will add some sophistication to your bathroom. And speaking of functional bathroom upgrades, did you know that adding lighting in your shower will actually make it safer? You will have a better image of where you are stepping, which will make you less prone to bathroom injuries.

  1. The installation of a tub is one of the biggest bathroom upgrades to make

But it’s also one of the most effective ones! First, let’s make one thing clear from the start – a tub is not a necessity! In fact, a lot of people have never even thought of installing a tub and are perfectly satisfied with their shower. But if you belong to the second group of people – those who love taking bubble baths – now’s the right time to stop picturing yourself relaxing this way and to actually make it happen.

Why is a tub one of those bathroom renovations that make all the difference? Feel free to ask any real estate agent about which features actually sell. Besides telling you that a clean bathroom is obviously the most important thing, they will also tell you that bathrooms with tubs are usually more appealing to the buyers. Especially if those buyers have kids. Now, we understand that for the time being, you might not be thinking about selling your home. However, if you want to add an upgrade to your bathroom that will increase the resale value of your home, plus be useful for you, then it won’t get much better than this.

Again, if you don’t see yourself as a person soaking in the tub every other night, then by all means, save your money. You will be able to find another pricey investment that the entire family will be able to enjoy.

It’s usually the smallest bathroom upgrades that make all the difference
In the end, you need to understand one thing – the simplest things are usually the best ones. With a bit of careful thinking, we are sure you will be able to find lots of great bathroom upgrades that will completely transform the look of your home. A few lights here and there, a few pieces of decor and your bathroom will look like a brand new one. Just make sure everything goes well with each other since you don’t want to create a disorganized look. Unless that’s your thing – then feel free to proceed with your own creation.
